My first thought on seeing the pic in WaPo was "thank goodness, it isn't another Pottery Barn room." As with anything probably I like different elements of it and I appreciate the overall look. I very much like that it doesn't look like it came straight out of a catalog.

I like good old pottery barn style. Textural, slightly rustic, pretty. Iron, various colors of wood, lots of velvet and cotton and linen.

It’s hard for me to get past how much I hate the green table cloth - it just feels dusty to me, plus my pets wouldn’t be able to resist the tassels, and would probably pull everything off the table in the process.

But once I get past that, the room is ok. Not my style at all, but fine. I like the colors, but it’s all a lot more formal than I go for in my own home.

One thing to consider is all that symmetry is VERY place specific. The matching tables work in this particular house, but there might not be any place for these items in a different house. (I guess that I’ve moved so many times, and will be moving again soon, that this just stood out to me.)

Phew, finally something with a little color. However those four matching lamps with the orange shades don't seem to be attached to an outlet.

I like the green and the blue. Other things look stuffy. I’m not a huge fan of that much symmetry, but in general I get your point, I was just thinking I want to paint my white walls something warmer... in general layers and clutter and color make things homey. I don’t like living in the apple store.

So... traditional but with more bold colour accents and more pared down details in furnishings/lighting. I feel like that's been the overriding theme for a few years now regardless of that particular photo. Heck- there was plenty of this in the eye candy thread.

I agree with a PP that the name is stupid. I confess that I love those mirrors!

Thanks for the rec. I'm a big fan of Garden and Gun, but I would say the decor swings pretty eclectic.
