I decided to turn in my notice as of the end of the year back in early May. I'm going to stay home with my kids and home school them. I know that isn't a solution for everyone, but it is the best decision for my family. So far, I'm #4 out of 30 teachers who has made this choice from my building. Unfortunately 2 of us are bilingual and 1 is in sped. So far, they've had 1 qualified applicant apply for those positions, total.

Only EPCC approved daycares will be allowed to operate until phase 3. When EPCC started we were allowed to accept kids up to 13 years old (even if we were not geared toward it). I have been preaching this since the beginning: daycare spots are significantly reduced and many daycares are closing or already closed. There will not be enough spots for all of the children who need care.
Not a teacher but I'm fretting so much about this. The prospect of no available childcare for the foreseeable future is giving me more anxiety than catching the virus.

DP. It’s not just Hogan because there is a lack of attention to this overall, but I live in MD, and he seems to be more concerned about getting OC up and running than getting an essential service like childcare open.

We are a two teacher family with three elementary school children. If our children are in school fewer days per week than we are, we will try to higher a babysitter for the days we need it. If that isn't possible, we'll juggle taking leave. It will definitely be less than ideal for our students, and we are sorry about that, but we don't have local family.

I will not quit. I will work one-two days a week and take unpaid leave and make them find subs. I worked hard for this career and won’t throw it away over this one weird year.
We will probably do a nanny share, so will be breaking SD. But if I am at work, we have broken it anyway.
I thought one reason why people became teachers is because it is easier to leave and re-enter?
