Yes, but it’s possible there will never be a vaccine. Absolute best case scenario it is ready by 2021-22 and, even then, the masses will not have full access yet. This approach is insane.

With the new statement from the CDC that the virus does not spread from surfaces....shouldn't that change some of these recommendations?

I think it is unfair that kids are being asked to make the most sacrifices while everyone else is going to be free to go to bars, churches, shopping, travelling. Its ridiculous.

I think you have to sometimes keep things in perspective. Here is one: the current effort against COVID-19 has led to 100,000 deaths in 3 months. So, if we had done absolutely nothing, how many people would have died? Would we be saying the things stated above?

I just cannot understand how the re-open DC report suggests this ridiculous A/B 10 students at a time schedule UNTIL THERE IS A VACCINE. That is insane. The amount of learning loss is very hard to quantify for young kids for whom distance learning is challenging. I cannot understand how that is possibly the best plan.

It'll be a start date and some possible options for how schools will operate -- either we'll be at such and such phase and they'll be open as usual, or we won't and they'll be in such and such forms of distance learning. And then they'll talk about how they're going to spend some time this summer planning for distance learning, so it's better than it was when they just had to leap into it on no notice.

That's a totally reasonable announcement to make three months before school actually starts -- do you want them to commit to one plan or another in terms of in school, not in school, how often, etc., when things could change a lot between then and now?

Well my martini the other night was made with a gin from a local distiller called Green Hat, and it was very nice. And to PP, my DH insists that martinis must be stirred, not shaken. On another note: yesterday, I took my DD on one of those driveby birthday celebs, and the birthday girl's mom tossed a can of bubbly rose into the car. It was much better than I would have anticipated.
