This. I can totally see some of those parents raising a stink about the Zoom classes and demanding refunds. Like their dance teachers didn’t need to be paid.

Some of the parents at Adagio when we were there were really obnoxious. I bet many demanded refunds even though they signed contracts.

I agree with PP, it could a move to avoid the worse to save money and just to open up again?? Because considering the revenues, no refunds and a relatively short time of being closed, it’s quite alarming.

I wonder why they offered refunds on Spring classes. The Washington School of Ballet switched to Zoom/recorded classes and kept our tuition (contract signed). We had been at Adagio for many years, and I believe they also had contracts, or pre-payment annual discounts.

I think the addition of the McLean location stretched them too far.

My girls go to adagio - it’s closing in both locations. There was an enormous drop off from in person to the zoom classes - like i would say the level one of girls is at probably had 90 students across that level across tons of classes and only 9 join the live zoom so I assume the other 80 asked for refunds or credits? I know they have competitive girls that are older but I think the younger kids created crazy revenue for them because there were like 9 classrooms packed and full every 45 minutes all day Saturday along with during the week after school. I’m sure they decided none of us would be intentionally paying for live zoom dance for our younger kids in the fall. I give them credit - they stayed open longer than any place (March 13) - they immediately uploaded classes - and then finally switched to zoom. They fought a good fight in a crappy economy and situation.

Ugh. That’s sad - were they still holding any type of classes?

My girls are enrolled at 2 other studios who have been having weekly live zoom classes. One even has open classes on Facebook. They are having a virtual recital at one and saving their performance for the fall at the other. Both have told us they are planning to keep up the live streaming classes in the fall if necessary.

I do feel bad for activities like swimming, we’ve been paying tuition but clearly we can’t zoom those lessons.
