It's the staff to camper ratio - 8 kids per 2 staff.
Still, one of the camps we have been with for the last couple of years has 6:1 or 6:2 ratio depending on the age and the cost is $495/week, $395 with early bird discount.

We're not going to do it, both because of price and risk, but I give them a lot of credit for at least making this an option. There are some folks who are in a really tough spot for childcare this summer. My neighbor, who has a job that can be done anywhere, is being forced to return to her office in two weeks, and her husband is a police officer so they are really scrambling.
I feel like the vast majority of people who are really in need won't be able to afford this![]()

Anonymous wrote:I don’t get why you’d have to register for all 6 weeks....I don’t think that it’ has to be all 6 weeks for kids to be safe. CDC says same group of kids, no combining during the day.
It’s just more about getting a good return and commitment to this and paying so much. I mean, I think it’s a great idea but not for that long and not for the price.

Saw this on the other thread. They are playing into people’s desperation and that is so wrong. $4,650 for 6 weeks for a 16 year old to watch your kid. You’re much better off hiring a high school babysitter at home.
And, if you’ve seen the CDC recs you’ll see how stringent they are and would this really be an experience you would pay $4,650 for?
