Yes, it’s nice that they add still trying to go on, but the price tag is high even with lunch. I have two kids and it’s just way too much.

Why aren’t landlords cutting them deals? No one is coming to take their space? Is there some advance to holding commercial RE vacant for years?

Program makes sense IMO and we'd send ours except that we're planning to be out of town the last 2 weeks (early/mid August), so paying the 6-week rate for 4 weeks (at the already elevated rate) is a bit much. Of course, it's possible we'll have to cancel our August plans, but the way the stats are trending the past couple weeks seems like we might be in decent shape by then to complete our family trip (and we aren't going to like amusement parks or anything, it's just to visit relatives).

Still, it’s nearly doubled and then you have to take all 6 weeks. I wish it was more flexible. At least they’re trying to provide in person camp I guess.

People who were really in need were never able to afford Congo camp anyways. It has always been a premium camp experience with a premium price tag.

It’s just more about getting a good return and commitment to this and paying so much. I mean, I think it’s a great idea but not for that long and not for the price.

It is 6 weeks because that way staff is not exposed to multiple campers coming in and out. Or kids that are there all 6 weeks aren't exposed to multiple campers.

Saw this on the other thread. They are playing into people’s desperation and that is so wrong. $4,650 for 6 weeks for a 16 year old to watch your kid. You’re much better off hiring a high school babysitter at home.

And, if you’ve seen the CDC recs you’ll see how stringent they are and would this really be an experience you would pay $4,650 for?

My DS has gone to Congo for years, and his lead counselor has always been a college student or older. The assistants and CITs are younger, but they're in a supporting role. I wouldn't be opposed to this option - same cadre of kids for several weeks - if I needed the care. I'm assuming they took input from Congressional school families before settling on this.
