There is only 3 clubs, 2 in MD and one in DC , in the whole region here doing MLS. Not every top player is looking to go into MLS. Seen lot good talent individual outside current MLS teams.

Agree. There will be talented teams in MLS, ECNL, other leagues as well. Here’s more than 1 “proven pathway” to college. But there were, and will be, plenty of parents that will get sucked into a team b/c it plays the “highest” level. Tell us how that works when there’s a roster of 30 kids. B/c bloated rosters happen all too frequently and your DS may never get more than 50% PT in a game, or worse, doesn’t dress for multiple games.

Yup, 2 of my kid's teammates went to DC United and are spending most of their talent seating on the bench. Not worth it!

Know some talented kids in ex-DA big pool, playing about 20min. per game. That's 10min. per each half. Not worth it either!

BaltArmour 16/17s had a roster of over 30 kids?!?! If a kid isn’t playing how are they getting into a college program? And more importantly how is a kid developing of they’re not playing? Sounds really fun...

All this talk from ALL you parents and the only one accepted is a team from Baltimore HA! teams from NOVA right now must really be feeling hurt.

Umm DC United academy is a northern VA club that will play out of Loudon county.

And your point is that they are in Northern VA but didn’t include any NOVA Clubs?

your an Idiot. DC is in the process of moving operations from DC to NOVA the United 1st team will only play their games in DC

When you call someone an idiot, please make sure you spell correctly, otherwise you are the one that looks like the true idiot. It’s “you’re” which is short for “you are”. “Your” means possession, or belonging to.

The period goes inside the quotes Dr. English.

Dumb ass. It’s two different sentences. BTW, “it’s” is short for “it is”.

This could be one of the dumbest posts in some time.

Care to explain why?

PAPB: Be on the lookout for girls soccer parents trying to highjack a thread that is really, truly only about boys soccer teams, in part because pro league tired of DA vs. ECNL arguments on girls side.

ECNL for boys is worse than CCL.

Really? I'm an Arlington parent and I would have gone to MLS instead of ECNL, but of course no one asked me...

I’m the OP, above. Also an Arlington Boys DA parent. I didn’t say that I necessarily agreed with the decision, but if you were on the call with the Academy director, you would know how they came to their decision to join the ECNL this Fall. It was a well thought out decision even if you don’t agree with the choice to join ECNL over MLS.

Wondering if they explained why the Girls side went with GA and not ECNL?

Girls side was not offered ECNL. That was made clear by Girls Academy Director in her zoom call with parents.

Interesting. There are ECNL clubs that are also in the MLS league, so they did not need to choose one or the other unless I am missing something. Top team presumably would play MLS, second team ECNL.

Which teams? I do not know of a single club that is now part of the Boys ECNL that was also on the list of clubs participating in the MLS league. Please be specific.

FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, FC Delco, PDA, NEFC, Colorado Rapids...

MI Wolves and Vardar are also in ECNL

Wolves put either their 2nd or 3rd team in ECNL depending on the age group at the time (son played there before we moved here, his age group had 2nd team in MRL, 3rd in ECNL at the time, not sure what team is in which league now) they had 5 different teams at his age level (2003)
