Ah yes, another DCUM racist. Hi!
NP. Why would someone saying a school is average be racist?
Because this is the refrain on DCUM. You all hate QO because it has a higher FARMS rate, which pulls its performance down, versus the W schools.
First, saying a school is average isn’t hating a school. Second, are you suggesting people shouldn’t look at performance when assessing a school?
If you want to argue that non-FARMS kids at QO do as well as similar kids at other schools, that’s fine. But that wouldn’t change that the overall school may be average. “Average” can’t just look at the top performing kids.
Yes, but what you’re saying is that it depends on the demographics, which is true. And when you say you wouldn’t send your kid there, what you’re really saying is you don’t like the school because of the demographics, because the white and Asian kids are doing fine. So ultimately your statement is one about having an issue with the demographics — hence, it’s racist.
I haven’t said anything about my kids and whether I would send someone there. I simply asked how saying a school was average was racist. Your logic is wholly circular. As you have defined, there is absolutely no way to criticize the school without it being racist. That can’t be true.
I don’t know much of anything about QO. I don’t have an opinion one way or another - and I haven’t expressed one here - I simply take issue with the absurdity of someone arguing that a statement that a school is average is inherently racist.
Then you haven’t been around here enough to read the discussions on QO. For that school, the criticism is absolutely racist.
No, I’ve been around DCUM enough to know that some people will cry racism at any criticism regardless of whether it has anything to do with race.
QO is actually a victim of that sort of rhetoric around here. I’m not someone to cry racism at everything, but in this case it’s true.
But is there any way someone could criticize QO, or something about QO, without you deciding it is racist?
Even if QO is as great as you say, there must be aspects you don’t like, no? It can’t be all rainbows and butterflies.
Yes, criticize it based on something other than a composite rating that is heavily skewed by test scores from poor, minority kids who—through little fault of their own—tend to score low.
Look at USNWR, which ranks QO very well, and explain to me how that comports with the GS rating. Until you explain that disparity, I’m going to assume you’re just biased against QO and are choosing the data source that confirms your opinion.

Well, sure. Though, honestly, FARMS is a rough proxy for race, sadly.

Good Lord. You need help.
No.She doesn't need "help"
QO is an excellent.school and actually one of the best school in moco. Way better than Wootton or whitman.
You only like those schools better because the kids are white and rich. It has nothing to do with the quality of the teachers, course offering or education provided.
You simply don't want your kids in school with " those other kids" who are generally black and Hispanic and that is racist.
