Dr. Hiram Baker on Little House on the Prairie

Only Hiram I know. And I'm probably the only dork who thought of that.

I am Orthodox Jewish and I have never met one single person named Hiram. If you are a farmer in the year 1847 then I think it's a great choice. Otherwise, please don't.

Did you just make the last 3 up?

I like the name, but I think PPs had valid points on how easily the name could be distorted for teasing.

Yeah, and Hiram was so bad he went by ULYSSES. Not a ringing endorsement.

Np I read Ron Chernow's book and I think he went by Ulysses because it was a mistake. Yes it was his middle name but, when He entered West Point and the person thought his name first name was Ulysses Simpson Grant and he just went with it because he liked the initials better. Now I read this over a year ago and I can't check the book because my brother borrowed it but, this is what I remember.

I do agree Hiram is horrible thought!

OP Don't do it!

Grant preferred Ulysses and that’s what his family called him. So that’s the name the US representative sent in with his West Point nomination. And the rest, my friends, is history. US Grant was better than HUG.

Are you thinking Hyman? Which I also would not recommend as a name for an innocent child.
