I haven’t gone out in two weeks. The dog walkers are out two times a day. And I KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE. That’s the part that is infuriating.


If you haven't stepped outside in 2 weeks, that's your choice. Or you have high risk comorbidities, and that's what you need to do. Being "infuriated" at others is insane. If you don't have any big health issues, then stop reading the news. Shut down the computer. Go outside.

Well Mississippi was all set to start opening more but the Governor changed his mind because cases just spiked. So yeah, this is what our near future holds, as the idiots get lazy and restless and force the economy open, only to realize it was a mistake.

I guess people need to see that happen a few times to start taking it seriously again.

They are places you can walk outdoors and still maintain 6 ft distance. I do it everyday. But no I can't go shopping at antique stores right now or go to the beach or to the mall or get my haircut and I'm probably going to have wait longer to do those things and it is what it is.


What places do you recommend to walk? We live in Arlington and can’t travel too far b/c, well, bathrooms.

I think this is a weekend thing and esp. weekends where it isn't rainy/cold. My area has been really really good -- which is surprising because it's full of dog owning millennial types in tall apt buildings -- and yet every weekend, it looks 10% more full than it does M-F.

The big deal is these are TINY stores. There’s no way to socially distance in them. For crying out loud, Trader Joe’s limits people and spaces you out in a line to get in. And that’s for food! This is a cramped ass antique store, nobody needs antiques right now, and I saw tons of people walking in.


Right. I agree with you. They're stupid. So why are you jealous that you are "sacrificing" by staying home and they "get to" go antiquing? You want to be stupid too?

We need to have staggered opening up, or people will chaotically start doing whatever. Parks need to be open. A few more businesses. And people who are high risk (elderly, chronic diseases and multiple comorbidities) really need to stop being stubborn, and self isolate. There's no reason the entire world needs to completely shut down because some people are at high risk.

I mean this is why I feel like a chump. I really thought we were all banning together for the common good. Like there was solidarity in this. No. People like you drinking with your neighbors and letting your kids congregate in groups of 20 mean the rest of us were doing it for no good reason.


It's not for NO good reason. Every person stepping out of circulation slows the spread. Sure the more people that step out, the more it slows; but you step out and your neighbor doesn't -- it still slows. Look up the images of the fire spreading thru the line of matches which circulated a few weeks ago to explain why it was important for even 1 match (i.e. 1 person) to step out of that line and stay home.
