The US News ratings are based on recent data, which continues to indicate that the top FCPS schools are the best in the state, based on a range of metrics that FCPS didn't pick.
You missed my point. I’m not arguing that the top FCPS schools aren’t best in the state. My point is that FCPS used to be better, period. There was less of a gap between the “good” schools and the “bad” schools. Although Lee and Mount Vernon were never in the same league as McLean or Langley, they were considered much better than they are now. Back then, all of the HS were considered pretty good, and none were “bad” like now. It’s a shame.
So what happened?

^ Due to the kids who go there, not the schools. This isn't rocket science. Se how Langley and McLean come in at the top? I still question what happened to Oakton though.![]()

This isn’t new. It’s been sliding for a while now.
It was ranked fourth in the state by US News last year. It just shows how these rankings bounce around.
I agree, but 4th to 11th is a pretty big drop in one year. Kinda hard to believe.
I wouldn't put too much stock in US News ratings.

I think it's great Marshall is so highly ranked. It is constantly panned on this forum.
underperformers have a school to aspire to
What do you base this on? Personal experience? The fact that the school has too many points or brown people? I wonder why people who have no experience with this school love to pick on it.
