I"d just be careful about renting a house with a pool with kids that young. I assume you won't have childcare and if you are working, that is a recipe for disaster if you get distracted on a call or something.

Or in on the Chesapeake Bay.

Cons are that we would need to rent/buy a crib and house has no toys and given the distance from DC we can only bring what fits in the car

Op - you mention these as the "cons" re: NJ, which makes you sound kinda tone deaf to what's happening. Listen to those who say, don't go to NJ.

Your culture should care more about the grandparents and protect them from getting a virus that could kill them far easier than it would you. Is everyone in your culture being stupid about the impact of this virus?

That’s an overkill. If everyone is healthy, it’s fine.

Yeah. Too bad you have too much common sense for the STAY HOME!! nuts that unfortunately found and trashed this thread.

NP. I definitely respect your right to make a different decision than me, but I don't choose my home based on how it would feel to shelter in place. I love my home largely because it is so easy to get to so many places and people that I love, which makes it a great place to live most of the time but a lousy place to live right now. I don't think that means I made a mistake to live here, just that this time stinks.

Stay where you are until it is clear what will be happening w/"stay at home". What are you doing now to get outside? Are you going out several times a day? Where do you live? Maybe set up your own little day camp at a park and have fun.

How old are your kids OP? I'd spend money on getting some toys/ playsets etc to make things better for the kid in the house that you live. Try to get out for walks every day, maybe twice if you can do it safely. Hiking, biking and just walking around and looking at flowers and plants and 10000 other activities ideas that are everywhere.

Most vacation areas are currently asking people not to come there. That might change closer to the summer, but for now you should respect that and not make plans to go to any beach area.

Either stay at home orders will have been lifted, and you will be able to move about to parks and other local areas like you normally would, OR we will still be struggling to contain the virus, in which case you should stay away from rural areas or beach areas that can’t handle an influx of people who could end up being sick.

Just.stay.home.
