We're in MCPS.
My teen had "checking in" Zoom meetings last week, but now, apart from office hours, he doesn't have any live classroom time. I thought it was odd, but now realize it was preemptive...
What utter asses some youngsters are.
My HS friend told me about the behavior. My response was the typical: Kids are jerks.
Then she sent screenshots.
I was absolutely appalled. And I have a pretty thick skin and lots of patience for the idiocy that is adolescents. Some of those kids need serious help. Even at my darkest, I couldn't imagine coming up with some of the things they typed. And to know it would be seen publicly and offend others? It was DISGUSTING. BEYOND utter assholery.
Could it be spamming from outsiders, not from students in the class?

And I’m guessing all chat/video/audio is on lockdown for a long while. I miss my students and was looking forward to hearing them tomorrow!
That’s a great idea. Make everyone log into a system that has crashed the last two days. Brilliant!
It was like this for some teachers already. The problem was partially them sharing the link out, but also the racist slurs etc. Honestly, some kids were emboldened because they know FCPS can't o anything, so they had no problem using their real names.
If they typed racial slurs under their real names, FCPS absolutely can do something about it. So can law enforcement.
Who raised those kids?

Anonymous wrote:My niece was sending my dd screenshots of some of the comments. Honestly, a lot was way xxx rated.
Any adult who has spent 3 minutes scrolling through TikTok would have anticipated this happening. The new thing is for the entire class to band together to prank the teacher or for just one student to be a complete ass.
