This is such a bad sign for your kid's mental health.

Really, let them enjoy the last vestiges of their childhood. You can worry about "positioning" them for college when they hit high school.

I should be careful next time with my choice of words. We are surrounded with Uber competitive parents and no one is ready to share. Obviously I don’t want my kids to be left behind. I was hoping parents whose kids who are no competition to my children and their kids are now set for the desired universities will offer help / advice. That’s all.

What are "the desired" universities? If your kids have a few long-term activities and get excellent grades with a challenging workload, they will not be "left behind" in an FCPS HS, even a competitive one. A handful of kids might go to the very top schools but deciding now that it's the only acceptable option for your 11/12/13 year old is not going to do anyone any good.

I know this is a troll, but you'd be surprised how many otherwise highb achieving kids either can't write or can't do math. So, figure out what they're weaker on and work on it. Fun stuff, like pleasure reading, kooky essay prompts for writing, or something like Beast Academy (start a grade level down) for math. Also, when youn choose their high school courses with them, make sure they have for years of a foreign language. Ivies like to see that.
