Yes. But then again, I took my kids to a one act play about the Holocaust and to a musical about a fatal shipwreck.

I don’t watch R rated movies with them. Plays are different.

Same! The part that stuck with me from the 70s movie was when they run across the desert and do some kind of dance jump and the frame freezes. Because of Catholic school I am really familiar with the passion of Christ so had zero surprises or trouble following. I went to the stage version about 15 years ago with a friend who wasn't Christian and she couldn't follow the story. Too many characters.

I took my 8y, 10y, and 13y to see the tour and it was amazing. Music top notch.

It’s not about maturity as it is about how sensitive a person is. My son was in middle school when we saw a local production and he was sobbing at the crucifixion. He also had to leave class in 6th grade because he couldn’t keep from crying at the documentary Four Little Girls.

We’re not religious so for me I didn’t know most of the characters so it got confusing.

I agree. I love musicals but Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals are overwrought. Superstar is the noisiest of them and very Boomerish in terms of the rock music.

Try Godspell instead. It's a much sweeter show. If your kids are familiar with the New Testament you can easily discuss it with them.
