I've always enjoyed my career. Now, both kids are in school, I have a very flexible job, and I work from home most days, going in usually 2x a week (before the pandemic hit, now I'm WFH every day). The key is that DH has a flex job too (though WFH less than I do when we aren't in the middle of a pandemic) and we have enough income that we can outsource yard and housecleaning, etc.

I continue to enjoy working as I have a flexible job and good childcare situation even now. But I wish I could WFH more. I like the forced WFH situation since everyone’s in the same boat Commute is not the issue - more the ability to do housework while listening to boring conference calls, or popping in to spend a few minutes with DCs.

No, I've been able to do what I want to do when I wanted. Was a SAHM with a bit of part time freelance work until my youngest was in K. Now WOH FT with a job I like with a great, flexible employer. I might want to do something else when the kids are in college (currently 9th and 11th grades) but for now life is good.

Another SAHM with a SN child. I gave up a career in human services that I loved and I excelled at. I have tons of resentment because I could have stayed at work if my DH received proper treatment for his mental health issues, but he has not and thus is incapable of being a partner in caring for SN child, or in anything really.

But none of this is the fault of my child, so I just focus on being grateful that we have the financial flexibility for me to stay home. It really is a luxury that helps my child so much. And when/if he is ever able to live somewhat independently from us I can see taking what I've learned and somehow helping other families and rebuilding some sort of life for myself.

I SAH and often question my decision; I love being home with my kids but miss having a work identity. This crisis makes me so grateful I’m not working right now!

My plan has always been to work part time (20 hours a week?) in a passion job (or, low pay) when my youngest starts school. This pandemic reaffirms that this is my ideal (SAHM for the little years, work part time for school years, hopefully transition into something more full time when they leave the house).
