Some guys choose a non-interactive communication (email/text) to alert an ex that they are now married so that their former partner is informed and they can have their initial reaction be when they are alone. Then if they hear about it somewhere else, they have a reaction that isn't from being caught off guard. It's a courtesy. I've known this to happen in ex-couples that still hang out with the same group of mutual friends. It's a courtesy and no response is expected.

It felt really weird he would tell me about his relationship. We broke up last August, which means he got married in no more than 4 months, lol.
The breakup was amicable even though I thought he was an a**hole, so I won't reply. Just don't get why he would tell me about the sudden marriage, which only made me thinking he cheated on me back then.
My college ex-boyfriend kept trying to be in touch with me - phone calls, emails, etc. - we broke up in 1997, he married one of my sorority sisters (and I know she didn't want him in touch with me) and he tried to friend me on Facebook in like 2014. Give it up, dude.
Why are men so pathetic?
