First of all, there is nothing wrong with holding training sessions at somebody's house with appropriate social distancing. If you don't like it, you don't need to do it. Others feel differently and will act accordingly and consistent with the law. Second, it's great that you have the privilege to stay in your house and still get paid. If you want to show solidarity, donate your salary to support the 71% of people who need to leave their house to work. Until then, you simply want people to lose their jobs and stay at home while you spend 18 months indoors to avoid the virus until the vaccine comes. Is that the solidarity you have in mind?

Then why did the clubs cancel training? Why did the counties and schools close their fields?

Should optional training be available? Why don't the clubs still have optional training at their normal fields. Space everyone out accordingly, they can do fitness, strength, footskills, etc while being trainer led. Even long passing activities, shooting, etc. I'm sure the clubs can create 90 minutes sessions where kids can work on soccer skills and still maintain plenty of separation.

Place is so big you could probably social distance and still go there. But, yeah I’d think they’d be in trouble ...

Maybe someone will wise up and realize that there is not a need to travel to MA or SC for a league game when you have elite teams next door. Does it make any sense for FCV to travel to NY when Mclean, Arlington, Bethesda, MUFC, etc. are within 50 miles. I sure hope this situation forces people to get serious.

There are already regional leagues to play in.

Get serious. The idea is to keep the top teams locally during league play. There is no need to travel to MA, CT, SC, or NC for games. Create a national league like the ECNL or DA where all serious clubs are members. Follow a format where there is an area conference and the top one or two teams in an area make the regional playoffs. The winner of the regional playoffs goes to nationals. That is one idea. Teams can still do showcases but we get away from having multiple national leagues with different champions. We also get away from insane travel.

Get serious, you know the commitment of the league before you accept a spot. There are regional leagues that are competitive that your kid can play in. I hate to break this to you but the only one “making” your kid drive to NY, CT etc to play soccer is you.

The point is to get rid of the current structure and develop something better so that a kid to play at the highest level to w/o breaking the bank because of travel-related costs.

The point is there are options. Pick one that works for you and your family.

Another point is that youare clearly a moron who doesn't want to admit that you should be able to play elite level soccer in this area without traveling more than 75 miles. At any age group, McLean, Pipeline, Bethesda, FCV, MUFC, Arlington, SAC, Baltimore Celtic, Baltimore Union, Loudoun and Rush, VDA, Frederick, etc., offer competitive games on the girls side. If teams really want to face the bestin the nation, they can do several showcases, like they do now.

If you had a point you wouldn’t resort to calling names.

“Elite” soccer is not an entitlement. There are lots of local leagues and competition that don’t require lots of travel. I suggest you just look for the league that suits your family needs. That is all you have control over. Your dream local league is simply not going to happen so stop ranting about it.

What don’t you understand? The PP said that he wants Elite Soccer to be played in the DMV area without the need to drive 4+ hours or more. Not everyone is defeated or unmotivated to fight like you. If he wants to fight the system and get others to join him, all power to him. If everyone is like you, there won’t be a Martin Luther King, etc. I don’t think I have to tell you that fighting for equal rights is a billion time harder than getting a local Elite Soccer league.

“Elite” soccer is National in scope and as such it will encompass playing against different regions not within them.

No amount of complaining is going to change that. Find the the league and level that works for you, your family and your wallet and be happy. You don’t need “elite” soccer so don’t feel the need to bend IT to your will.

Complaining might not change that, but a pandemic might.

Again, how is the idea of a pro-rel league in the dmv NOT the NCSL? If the clubs put their best teams back into the league, then voila!

So there is no recruiting or poaching in non-pro-rel leagues. Very interesting.
