He said if you can walk or bike to the park to go hiking that’s fine. What part of reading comprehension is difficult for you? I watched the press conference and he did indeed say this. He specifically said he didn’t want people driving to get to a park to hike far from their house. Them the breaks.

My husband and I are avid hikers. It's was amateur hour the last time we went out (2nd week of March). All these people have suddenly discovered the parks and they aren't keeping a distance or using "leave no trace" principles.

We went to a Virginia state park two weekends ago and the parking lot was unusually busy for the early morning. We went out on a trail we knew wasn't popular (too long for newbies) and when we came back, the parking lot was packed and people were not keeping their distance.

If you're a hiker, you'll want to take this time off. You don't want to be out there.

Maybe we should do what they are doing in my sisters town in France. You can only exerciser up to one kilometer from where you live.

The kids and I hiked Shenandoah on Thursday; we live in Maryland. We went to a trail that was not closed and very unpopulated. I did a lot of research on that part. We saw 4 other people the entire day. We packed a lot of food and water and had a full tank of gas so we did not need to stop anywhere. My biggest concern was bathrooms but even that turned out fine. It was very refreshing and I am very glad we did it. As far as I am concerned, that is still self-quarantining. We did the Billy Goat Trail earlier in the week. We had driven by last Sunday but there were hundreds of people there so we kept driving. On Tuesday at the early hour we went, there were about 10-15 people. For that one, I was more concerned because you have to touch rock surfaces.

If you pick an unpopular trail on an unpopular day, you should go for it. The rules are to distance yourself and go out only for essential reasons. The outdoor time is essential in my book.
