Don't know the answer, but suppose these grads end up paying less, on average, to attend college.

Does this mean what their parents paid for high school was worth it?

Or does it mean their parents paid excessively for high school?

My stepdaughter went to GDS and although I personally had issues with some aspects of her education, the college counseling was excellent. She got in everywhere she applied including some really competitive schools (Smith, Wellesley, etc).

Maybe Sidwell is different, but for GDS --

Intial student and then family meetings with counselors were held in January through mid February. No one would have a first meeting during spring break.

All GDS juniors already have two PSAT scores, so no one is operating in the dark.

The counselors are very available by email even now, so no need to write to an anonymous chatroom.

An enormous amount of information can be accessed by any GDS parent on the website, including a complete list of four years worth of college matriculations, with the number matriculating at rank school.

I'm guessing that Sidwell has similar resources available to its junior families.

Now, if you're just curious on where kids are going, then just ask, although my guess is kids will be going more or less where earlier graduates have gone.

Dear OP, it's a general rule that you will find very little helpful info on these threads after the first page. But re comparing your child to others. you should check out College confidential. For most schools, there is a "chance me" thread where you can post your stats and get a sense from people (some who work in college admin) what's realistic.

The problem with comparing yourself to other kids at GDS?SFS et al is that many of the admits are based on connections, donations, athletic recruiting and minority status. None of those factors show up in Naviance, and most people won't share them in threads where they can be identified.

Ha! Now that is funny. I’m definitely relieved about top ivy status. Middle or lower ivy just doesn’t cut it. Kid didn’t even apply to Cornell or Dartmouth.
