The problem with canceling now is that IF (and that’s a big if) it becomes feasible to return, those leagues cannot.

Providing kids some level of normalcy if it’s safe to do so would be welcome in my home, even if it’s a 5 week season.

Wait and see for what. How long they can keep our money?

You also have to factor in all the players who forgoed this club season to play high school, there’s a lot of seniors who would be hungry to get that last season in that they’d been preparing for. The concept of a new season is a construct that will be challenged by this, I don’t see how people can be moving on to the fall already when so many people have committed time and money into the season that’s currently being put on hold. Of course the virus could make all of this irrelevant and keep players off the field until next year, this is uncharted territory.

Maybe for travel teams but I don't think it would work for the rec leagues. People signed up for spring, not summer, soccer.

NP and agree. My kids play rec and our coaches are all volunteer. They signed up planning to to coach in the spring, and we signed our kids up for spring soccer. I don't mind the association keeping our registration fee, that's fair enough, but they should either refund the rest of the money or apply it as a credit for the following season.

If Super Y is an indication of summer league interest, that’s a waste of time. Just refund the fee.

My husband and son were joking that, in order to keep the money for the spring season, our club would be scheduling all of the games and tournaments over a single long weekend in August, when it would be simultaneously scalding hot and pouring rain.

I got that too...they said they would provide another update on April 20--what crack are they smoking? The season is done. You can't start a spring soccer season in May or June--it is way too hot for summer soccer here.

You do realize that soccer is played worldwide in places that a much warmer than here, right?
