I despair for humanity given the responses in this thread.

Finding the good in things is always important. look for silver linings, be grateful for the small good that comes from struggle.

Enjoy your time with your family OP. I think it will slow down life for many and that is a good thing. Some will waste the benefits due to being riddled with anxiety and hysteria rather than seeing the good in it.

I agree, I look forwarding to being home with my kids.

Some extra crazies out. I guess it makes sense. The already anxious DCUM set's nerves can't take much more of this, I don't think.

A break? Not for the people who will have to telework with kids at home.

+1. Not everyone is a rich dependent housewife. Idiots.

But some people are hair dressers, bus drivers, teachers, retail, etc etc. Not everyone can telework. Idiot.

So it's my fault you structured your life in a way that you won't get to enjoy any of this forced quarantined? Just because you're going to be miserable doesn't mean everyone will be or that they have to feign misery to make you feel better about your situation. And for the record, I'm not a housewife, but way to make yourself sound like a bitter idiot.

NP here. Be glad and thankful I structured my life this way since I am your child’s doctor. You fricking idiot.

+1. I’m the nurse in your ER, the technician giving your mother chemo therapy, the cop protecting your home...

OP is truly an example of blind white privilege and our generation’s most self-centered mothers.

No wonder people hate us.

Immediate pp here. I am not sure what you mean here. I work in one of the above professions. I am with OP in that I am going to enjoy some quality time off with my family. I think the teleworking pp sounds like a bitter idiot, frankly.

While the OP came off as a little tone deaf to the realities of COVID-19, the vicious responses on this thread make me think that most of you are simply panicked, and the panic is coming out sideways in the form of empty moral judgement. Get a grip. At least some people are trying to see a bright side to this.

Eh, OP is just trying to appreciate the silver lining of a bad situation. Although I am not relishing the idea of entertaining two small kids every waking hour for 2+ weeks, I do feel somewhat comforted that we won’t be worrying about their exposure to the virus at school.

Bubble people don’t know that. Just concerned about “lovely” things and decompressing.

Terrible things are happening all over the world, all the time. I’m not going to fail to enjoy the enjoyable aspects of my life because of w bey bad thing happening elsewhere, or I’d always be miserable. I do what I can to help others when I can, and my career is one that seeks to improve the lives of others.

Tone deaf. Check your privilege, please.

No, that's simple reality.
