I mean, I do have two small boys, so I get it. But this isn't normal life! You have to make adjustments! You do not have to sit inside all day, but you do have to avoid crowds. Start planning now for how to make that work. Buy some new outdoor toys to occupy them in your own yard or neighborhood. Whatever that means for you, figure it out.

This. And I saw this coming in the shut FCPS thread down. People want schools shut down and then there is the discussion of what do we doing when the kids are at home. At least at school the kids are not going to a bunch of places being kids. If schools are closed down then you almost have to close down the indoor playgrounds and gyms and museums because there are going to be a good number of parents who take their kids out.

the FCPS teachers are being trained on distance learning on Monday. If the schools close, wouldn't some of that home time be dedicated to distance instruction? I would think that would eat up some of the time.

We have our DS birthday party scheduled for one of the bounce places in a couple of weeks. I am going to cancel and try to make it an outdoor play/house pizza and cake party. At this point, I'm not even sure that will hold up anymore!

Playground - iffy

Someone needs to do a diagram to explain to people when you share space with Larla, you are also assuming possible germs from her parents...one of whom may have a spouse who just got back from a business trip to a place with a bigger outbreak and with this person who has a cousin from Italy who he saw over winter break before the outbreak was official and people just thought they had a bad cold and so forth. This thing is highly contagious and many of us may be walking around either asymptomatic as carriers or asymptomatic, but about to become symptomatic within the next 2 weeks.

It’s not just about you. When you take your kids to these places and they pick up and pass on this virus, you are contributing to community spread. Maybe it’s no big deal for your healthy kid, but it can be devastating or deadly for someone else.

We’re in the midst of a pandemic and we’re planning fun outings for the kids? Keeping others safe takes priority over letting your kid jump on a trampoline at a play place.
