It was one of the nights I work a bit later. He came back a little earlier than usual. The kids begged me to stay for the end of the movie. I agreed, they fell asleep. I made my way to leave. He saw me to the door. He made fun of my hat. Then he thanked me for hosting some of his family the week before and we kissed. It really just sort of happened. As it was happening it didn't seem wrong at all. I know that doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure I said thank you and then I left.
The next time I saw him he apologized.

We haven't been flirting. At least I haven't meant to be. We're friendly . I Yes he's attractive, a nice guy, and a good dad .Yes I probably have a small crush at In a different situation I'd consider dating him.
I honestly feel that other than kissing things have been professional and never crossed the line.
I haven't tried to do anything to catch his eye.

The kiss sort of just happened.

There's no romance so no begining or end. I've been a nanny on and off for about a decade. I was interested in being a nanny last summer and the agency I work with thought I'd be a good fit. I interviewed and was hired. Most of my day is filled with kids and household management things. When he travels I'm with the kids 24/7 . I occasionally travel with them or do day trips with the whole family. We talk mostly job related occasionally other things come up.

I don't linger at the end of the day. We have had dinner all together a handful of times on the kids birthdays or if he happens to get home early and asks me to join them.
No flirting or anything like that.

OP, would you ever consider living permanently wherever is it he's from? Be very honest with yourself re: this. Permanently live there without more than a 1x/year visit back to the US. Would you? If you would be ok with living there, pursue the relationship --- let him know, without a doubt, that it is a relationship-leading-to-marriage that you want.

This happened a few weeks ago. He apologized, said he understood if I wanted to leave. I told him he didn't need to apologize because I was equally responsible. I'm staying on at the job because I love the kids and made a commitment and don't want to disrupt their lives.
We're both late 30s so not a case of a young girl being groomed by an older boss.
Things have more or less gone back to normal.
My problem is I didn't really regret the kiss. As I had become more fond of him, and realized I missed him as much as the kids on my days off. He's the kind of guy I would go for. I know that nothing can or will happen. I know I need to get over. How do I do that?

Sorry. I didn't mean the kids will be grown up. They are moving back to be with his family and their grandmother will be taking over my current role like she did before I came aboard.
