Then I learned that you don't have to fast on Sundays during Lent so I'd gorge on ice cream on Sundays.

That seemed stupid, so I just gave up fasting altogether.

Ha? In which church is this?

All animal products, except for fish. My lent starts on Monday and is insanely long this year! Till Easter on April 19th! I will start the Lent with the prayer on Monday hosted by the patriarch of my church in Potomac. He has come over from Europe, but now I am a bit panicked since coronavirus was reported in countries around mine.

This is what all orthodox Christians do.

Funny, just read the pope asked people to give up trolling for Lent

I’m far from being Catholic, but I’m with the Pope on this:

“ We live in an atmosphere polluted by too much verbal violence, too many offensive and harmful words. ... Today, people insult each other as if they were saying 'Good Day.'"

I am giving up watching Netflix/Amazon by myself. My hubby and I like to watch a short show before bed most evenings...don't want to end that.

So now I will do cooking and organizing and so forth without watching The Good Place. It will make me more mindful and will be an obvious change/ sacrifice of comfort. That said, I work more than 40 hours a week so it's a change just around the edges of my life.

Vegetarian daughter is going vegan for Lent and asked me to join her. I won't make it through the entire season (who knows?) but will start March 7 when she returns home for spring break so she can be my conscience.

Who knows? This may be the start of something good, healthwise and spiritual wise.

We’re adding a random act of charity: little things like putting money in parking meters and paying for someone’s order. My little boy has hundreds of suggestions for this and it’s so sweet.

What a sweet little guy you're raising.

Props to you! I tried this one year and shamefully only lasted 30 days.

You will have success!
