This must be terribly frustrating. You are such a good Mom though to not want to pass it on to your child. Please get help. Here is a number that has great resources and can help you find the help you need. (855 382 5433) I am praying for you. There is hope and there is a better way. God bless you. Also praying for your family and your new home.

You say you've been in therapy for a long time, but have you tried antidepressants? If therapy isn't working, it might be worth a try -- especially during perimenopause.

One of the main tenants is focusing on building a life that is meaningful to you based on *your* values and committing to that life even when your own thoughts/feelings/behaviors derail you.

Another clinical psychologist here, and I cosign all of this. I've also encountered people who say they've been doing CBT for 5 years, but CBT specialists typically limit it to 6 months of weekly sessions, give or a take a couple of months. I know a few experts who've seen kids or adults closer to a year.

OP already feels bad for feeling bad. Now you want her to feel bad for feeling bad about feeling bad?

Is that helpful? As I say to my kids, are you helping or hindering? (Usually when I say this, they're not helping.)

Me too. I have to remind myself to be grateful for all the truly wonderful things I have. It’s hard and when I’m in a bad mood I spiral into negativity. One thing I am never negative about is DH. He’s amazing and all I have to do is ask him to pull me out of negativity and he does.
