Her father has handled every major contract she's ever had and gotten her a slew of TV shows. Honestly I think he's a huge factor.
Just look at all the Instagram 'influensters' who don't have a major mom-manager like Kris Kardashian in their corners. None of them are billionaires. Or for a runway effect - Gisele Bundchen is a hugely successful runway model but that never transitioned into anything like Heidi's TV empire.
Heidi should have obeyed her father's wishes.

I don’t get the supermodels and multiple marriages thing, especially to (homely) musicians. Christie Brinkley—Heidi Klum and their many marriages all run together. They need to marry blind men who grew up before magazines and the internet. Then they might be less prone to divorce. There’s probably an Amazonian tribesman who is their love match.

They are both dumb as rocks. They are perfectly suited. He's not dragging her anywhere, she is hanging onto that gravy train as long as she can. There is not much else she is capable of doing.
