Communication from a few weeks ago was that we would be playing NPL. The lack of games scheduled on the NPL website for FCV does make one wonder if that is not the case. It may be an NPL decision or a St James decision. I’m almost certain this isn’t something that FCV’s coaches - esp on the boys side - would want.

+1

We were also told that we would participate in EDP if there were not any schedule conflicts with NPL games.

The point is that EDP games are scheduled by the team manager/coaches so can be done so as to not conflict with other league games. If it is not being done that can be chalked up to disinterest/laziness on the scheduling front rather than a true conflict with another league.

Is that their reputation? We were looking into DA clubs and found this thread very interesting! FCV was one of the clubs we were looking at. Do you have specifics? They don't have a lot of info on their website.

Indeed. I just looked at their website to see if I could figure out what they are doing with NCSL this spring. It's a bit of a mess, could not make heads or tails out of it. I would have thought that TSJ would have done a makeover here by now.

[b]The FC Virginia Website is not at all useful to find information about their club. Wish I had time to email every soccer club about basic info that should be on their website...

I actually did a session on that at the coaches' convention a couple of years ago. Pretty well-attended.

I did a parody site to present: https://duresport.wixsite.com/mysite

Excellent (and you should probably market your service to 75% of clubs around the DC area).

We found the competition in NPL leaps and bounds better than what we were getting on our A-level team in CCL 1. Why do you think it's declining?

Because the best players are playing ECNL or DA. Therefore you have a bunch of teams not as strong as they were even 2-3 years ago.

That's really sad.

I hate how expensive it all is, and I liked it when there were just two levels of travel leagues, and only one that collected all the elite players. Then they actually all played and matched up to each other. Now, we have 3 national organizations all trying to be the final stop for youth, DA and ECNL for boys and girls, and any number of "elite" leagues to choose from. It's a mess.

Out of curiosity - what other clubs are you looking at if you moved from FCV? Are you looking to stay in NPL or NCSL leagues?

Apparently this is NOT happening for the FCV United U15 team-even though that was a main reason we signed on. I'd love to hear from the coaches and manager why its not happening. Since the club is supposed to schedule these games, why can't they make it happen??

Same thing happened prior to the Fall. Teams were planning to play EDP and it didn't happen. No explanation but we were told league play is either NPL or NCSL. St James has a relationship with NCSL so a guess is this may have come from STJ.

They are very guilty of lies of omissions. They will tell you what you want to hear and will leave out pertinent information.

They also won’t tell you a new kid is coming in to take your kids job. You’ll just get an offer, go into the fall thinking all is well and now your kid is on the bench.

They also won’t tell you that your kid is coming in to replace a bench player who left for greener pastures and that your kids position is pretty well stocked and she isn’t going to be a starter anytime soon. You’ll hear all the talk about the great environment, steel sharpens steel, look at our commits, look at our facility etc.

In short, they will sell you club as if it is a timeshare that you are just lucky enough to be considered for the position.

I think it's competitive through U12. Once those 6 teams send their top players to ECNL/DA it goes down
