I think buses - even if they are for 6 blocks - will be helpful. There are three existing schools in that area and the Two Rivers Middle school should be open in the fall of 2020. Drop off and pick up on 26th street and the driveway up to the Phelps campus is already stressful. Two Rivers parents have been trying to work with the school and DC government on sidewalk and transportation flow improvements for years. SWS parents, since they have the attention of DC government, should be asking about transportation plans and safety improvements (e.g., sidewalks on both sides of 26th street and the H street/Phelps driveway (owned by DGS and not DDOT); three-way stop sign at the intersection of H street/Phelps drive way and 26th street; and potentially changing the H street/Phelps drive way to one-way directional flow through the Phelps parking lot and behind the Brown Education Campus). Right now due to a lack of proper infrastructure, enforcement, and transportation flow, kids are put in conflict with cars more than they need to be.

Letter states on the field btwn Spingarn and Phelps. Community meeting 2/26.

Does anyone know where on the Springarn grounds the modular campus will be sited?

They do this for every school that’s swinging elsewhere. And the pickup and drop off has always been at the ‘home’ school. And yes they run different buses for the ECE kids and their are aides on them.

They did not do this for Maury...
