Not the dialogue PP, but some children are naturally more communicative than others. Also, some of us have relationships with our children that are different from the relationship others have with their children.
Doesn’t mean that everything a middle schooler says is “truth.” That’s sometimes hard to tease out....

If you have a problem then pull her. Having had more than 3 kids at Deal (including 2 now) I can tell you that they are having a completely different experience. Sure kids have said they hear about drugs but no, ZERO drug busts at lunch unless it was a 6th grader. There are far fewer fights than in previous years. There has definitely been some alcohol issues being snuck in. But to think that a kid at a cupcake and felt sick = edibles is crazy. They are middle schoolers. If their lips are moving they are lying.
I'm having a hard time believing that conversation really happened.
My 7th grader at Deal doesn't share much of anything with us and none of our fellow parents are getting much more out of their kids.
I know there are quite a few fights at Deal and based on my middle school experience I assume there are some kids smoking pot and maybe some alcohol consumption as well especially among 8th graders but we've not gotten any intel back from other parents that they've heard anything - I know when I was in middle school my parents were definitely aware this stuff was going on because kids were getting caught and things were way looser 35 years ago than they are now.
And I'm very skeptical edibles are being passed around.

Kids in my middle-class middle school (flyover country) were smoking weed. We all knew who they were. There were fistfights regularly too. Alcohol wasn't really a thing until HS.

Absolutely. I knew who the stoners were in my middle school 30+ years ago.
This! And I had a friend who smoked hash and did coke. (Not in DC) Her family was rich too.

I wouldn’t call it a good job... The amount that is swept under the rug these days is absurd and unsafe.
Not just recently, since Albright! Parents would be shocked if they knew what went on at Deal!
How did Albright lead that was different? What has changed?
Since Impact was instituted a Principal’s yearly score has depended on lowering suspension rates every single year. There are now egregious acts that would have resulted in 10 day suspensions a few years ago that now don’t even warrant a detention.
