They have suggestions for coordinated kid outfits here! https://www.janieandjack.com/family-moment?lang=en_US
Agreed though - maybe do some Pintrist suggestions that everyone can see, with the color scheme and a pic of the grandparents outfits, so people can pick things out for the kids on their own. My sister-in-law did this once - blue and white - and it worked out well enough. One SIL refused to buy a dress so wore a cream and red-flowered dress, her daughter had red shoes on and my daughter insisted on wearing a red headband - so... it actually looked nice in the end(except it was on the beach and everyone was super wind-blown!)

We will agree upon a color scheme based off of Grandma and Grandpa’s outfits, and they are paying for the grandchildren’s outfits. I was going to purchase them to get one more task off the (let’s be real about it) moms’ task lists. But your points about trying the clothes on are well taken. Maybe a gift card to the right store is the solution.
Janie and Jack. Best place to get special occasion clothes for baby through elementary age. They come out with multiple collections each season where lots of items coordinate.
+1.
If you want ultra classic, also check out:
Bella Bliss
Beaufort Bonnet Co
Edgehill Collection at Dillard’s
Though agree that kids are different and you might be setting yourself up for an epic family fight if you dictate too mixh
