This! The bruise in itself, whatever, I'm not really even in the habit of checking out kids' bruises while at swim class. But it's the overly detailed story to go with it...why feel the need for a story at all? Why is OP paranoid that someone is going to ask about her kid's random hip bruise?

Sorry, no, this is insane. You cannot call CPS on someone because their child has a small bruise on their hip. Most people aren’t child abusers. Unless other things are off about this parent and family no normal person is going to suspect child abuse.

When I was a kid, my foot slipped on a magazine and I fell on the corner of a book. I had this corner shaped bruise on my butt for weeks. I feel like weird accidents happen all the time.

Maybe she already had a bruise and the computer charger hurt her because of preexisting tenderness. My kids often have weird bruises too. DS bit DD and she had a huge bite mark bruise at ballet. I felt a little awkward about it, but knew it was unlikely anyone would think it came from some one over the age of 3. I do think about that because as a teacher, I know people working with children are trained to have a radar for signs of abuse. If I noticed something a little off, I’d flag it and keep eyes peeled, but also use my brain and know it was probably nothing. Random butt bruises would be less concerning than deep grab marks on an arm or a black eye, for example. I like to ask parenting questions on Reddit now, FWIW.
