that's it. that's the post.
+1! Birth control pills made me moody, fat, and covered in cystic acne. Hard pass.
Don’t the hormonal IUDs have the same hormones as the Pill? Why wouldn’t they have the same side effects? I hate being on the pill, feel like it’s killed my libido, made me gain weight, and elevated my blood pressure — but I had seriously heavy periods before and am afraid to go back to that. Am actively in search of an alternate solution.
The hormonal IUDs have a LOT lower level of hormones than the pill and the hormones are largely localized to the uterus; little of the hormones ends up in the bloodstream, different than the pill/patch/implant. If you are extremely sensitive to any hormones at all, you could have similar side effects, but at least for me I was ok with this very low level of hormones even though I absolutely couldn't tolerate the pill. Bonus is that you either stop your period or it becomes very light. I wasn't lucky enough to go completely without periods, but I would only have one every 2-3 months and when I did, it was light pantyliner level light for 2-3 days. Obviously talk to your doctor, but if I were you I would seriously consider the IUD (I had the Mirena). I would think it would almost have to be better than the pill given your side effects. Good luck!
