Knew a guy many years ago who was shuttling his kids all over the place for various sports on weekends. He drew the short straw and got the early am preliminary heats for a swim meet around the other side of the Beltway from his home. He fell asleep at the wheel on the way back with several kids in his car. Ended up lodged against the concrete median wall. No one was hurt, luckily. This was an example of a guy who worked all week, long hours. Then, he spent weekends shuttling kids to competitive sports. It was a wake-up call that he had to find a way to get more sleep or curtail the kids sports.

Unless you’ve lived in that area, you don’t understand the drastic weather changes sometimes unpredictable unless you are a meteorologist studying weather patterns. I think this tragedy calls for a review of smaller aircraft regulations especially the hand offs with flight control and air space!! That pilot flying in a holding pattern may not have been fully aware of the lack of visibility and dangers ahead until he flew into it!

I would totally take a helicopter to avoid travel for my kid's sport every other weekend.

"Fist fights over parking spots" at a youth soccer tournament in the middle of no where. (Yes, I have been to Muldoon's farm many times). I rest my case. OP

I can just about guarantee that its safer to take a helicopter to muldoon farm for a soccer tournament than drive. Ive seen multiple accidents and tow trucks pulling stuck cars from the mud. Ive even seen cars get totaled striking deer while driving just outside the fields. not to mention fist fights over parking spots.

That's it! I'm cancelling my helicopter to Jeff Cup now.

True, work actually pays for the "kids sports." And I am not saying "kids sports" don't have value beyond "potential and highly unlikely" college scholarships. Kids learn life lessons, make great friends and families can have quality time participating in these activities. But "kids sports" can become a costly and perhaps a dangerous obsession for some. OP
