I remember going in Heathrow airport a decade or so ago. It was really, really good! I wished we could have one in the US. Flash forward to last week, I was in NYC and there was one seemingly on every single corner in midtown. I went twice and the food was GROSS. Bland, boring, blah. I think they expanded too fast.

Since it's french, I don't feel obligated to pronounce the whole thing. So I will say pret ah monj. And stop there since french people always just quit talking in the middle of words.

So when we shorten it to Pret, should it actually be Pray, with no t? Maybe saying the whole thing is safer after all!


Or you could argue that the shortened form is Pret because that's where people choose to stop in pret/amanzhay

Everyone at my office says "Pret," and pronounces the t.
