Just curious if you tell the parents you are charging $40/hr? The OPwas only paying$20/hr which is standard rate.

That’s a big deal. I’m scheduled tonight and counting on $40/hr plus tip. If someone cancelled on me it would be really upsetting because I get booked months in advance over the holidays and really count on that money.

I would pay her the full amount and you can be darn sure she would want to work with you again. She will remember your generosity for a long time and that is a good thing. She has the option to say no that's too much.

If she did not have another job lined up, I would pay the full amount (just the hourly rate, not any tip over and above hourly).

Since she is going to be watching your niece, then I would go with $100.
