Frankly I do not care what else the new Dem majority does if they do not get major changes passed on gun control. Most stuff is working fine in VA; gun rules are a huge area of needed improvement.
+1. I want gun nutters in jail. Period. That is literally the ONLY thing I care about for this session. If they can't accomplish that, they are worthless, and should be replaced by Delegates and Senators who can. Any Dem who falls out of line on these Bills that have been introduced needs to be recalled and replaced immediately. There has been too much work, too much money spent, and too many promises made to NOT use this opportunity to push for the strongest gun safety laws this country has ever seen. My message to all those new Delegates and Senators is very simple: we got you in there - now it's time for you to hold up your end of the bargain and get rid of these guns, and their idiot owners.
Aww how cute of you! I hope to see you and your the other deranged mommies at lobby day!
Just call me Betsy Riot. I'll be the one punching you in the face.

Well, how can you blame people for thinking that way? Especially when you remember what Pete Shields, the founder of what later became the Brady group, said:
"No private citizen has any legitimate reason to possess any type of firearm whatsoever."
That's a troubling statement. That explicitly implies that _any_ public citizen is a candidate for gun ownership. Shades of proles and party.

And yet gun violence is very low in VA.
But sure, if you want to sacrifice everything else for laws that will be tied up in the courts, ignored, unenforceable, and ineffective at preventing gun violence, go ahead.

For example, all gun owners need to be part of a militia. Said militia needs to have regular drills and to police their own. Militias with too many problem owners get shut down.
In exchange we can get holdout states like Maryland and Illinois to recognize other states legitimate CCW permits or at least to allow storage in lock boxes while going through those states.
