Regarding prostitutes, even leaving aside the issue of STDs, if I wanted to have sex with a woman who despises me and is totally uninterested in sex with me, then I wouldn't have gotten divorced.

As it is, I will hold out for sex with a woman who feels desire, affection, and respect for me. She will learn that there's nothing wrong with my T levels, believe me.

This. I actually thought I enjoyed sex more than I actually did. Going so long without it clearly means it's to the contrary to what I thought.


I guess I’m the opposite. When I was single I had a very healthy number of partners but began to think something was wrong with me because I never enjoyed it. I seriously thought I might be gay but I never went in that direction. After a two year break I met my now husband and the first time was a whole new experience for me. 22 years later I still enjoy it.

I hooked up with one guy quickly after the separation, one time thing; went on a couple dates and slept with another guy a year after; and then had a long distance FWB who I hooked up with after I traveled to his county and he to mine within 18 months, and have now gone over a year. Six months after my divorce I reconnected with an old BF who is also divorced. We had had great sexual chemistry but we were not compatible in so many areas. For the past two years he has been the perfect FWB. In two years I will be an empty nester at which point I will hope for something more.

Nah. It actually takes work for men to have sex. Can't just go into a bar and lift up your skirt like a woman can. If it's been years since you've had a first date, it's tough. And for a while, even flirting with new women makes you feel vaguely guilty like you're cheating ("wife might find out") or something. Takes time to shake off that thought pattern that got ingrained over years of marriage.

Pretty much just walk up to any normal-looking man and ask, and there you go, itch scratched. Not quite so easy for men, alas...

I haven’t dated yet but will definitely not have anyone around my kid. He’ll be graduating in a couple years so I don’t think there’s a reason to introduce anyone at this point.
