I've seen a GW NP multiple times during my uncomplicated pregnancy and was always very happy. If I had had an issue, I would have asked for a second opinion of an OB. Pregnancy is for the most part so routine for the providers we all tend to see, I doubt there is much observable difference in treatment (although it would be interesting to see a study on outcomes).

i.e., a study on outcomes (and as someone else with a Ph.D. in a discipline more competitive than medicine, these kinds of studies are much of why I chose a CNM for my care--I know I was lucky to have that choice)

I saw the NPs at Georgetown for many of my prenatal appts and actually preferred them to a lot of the OBs. It was an NP who first caught my slightly elevated blood pressure at 30 weeks and talked me through the variety of pre-eclampsia symptoms and encouraged me to check my BP at a CVS if I felt at all off before my next appt. Four days later I did just that and got the early care I needed In advance of an emergency c section by the end of the week. I’m so glad I saw her that day—like all my NP appointments she was relaxed yet thorough and I seriously doubt the OB would have given me the same tips that led me to go in after very mild symptoms and get the steroid shots my baby needed to ready her lungs.
