I have two friends whose wives are fairly openly cheating. One is miserable, he is trapped, they don't have enough money to split without moving out of the school district and couldn't afford two decent size houses. He's trapped.

The other is "cheating" too. I put that in quotes because they have a sort of DADT and he doesn't care where she gets it because he gets it too.

I could definitely make an open relationship work and offered one to my wife. Our sex life is cold, it's no way to live, and if her getting it from elsewhere means I do too, it's a win-win from my view.

You never know what goes on in other's marriages.

I would assume because he chooses to. The reasons behind each individual man’s decision may vary but ultimately it’s his choice. Nobody’s putting a gun to his head and forcing him to tolerate anything so it must be a personal decision.

Finances, arm candy/social status, and/or fear of being alone. Sometimes you get someone who is emotionally dependent/codep or one of them is psychologically manipulative.

I wouldn’t. Would ask for an open marriage or serve divorce papers. Too much self respect to put up this this and I could easily find someone else who would fit all of the boxes DW does.

Maybe he doesn’t want to have to pay her support.

Maybe he has someone else on the side.
