I don’t usually like unusual names. But I think Maren (spelled this way) is really pretty.

Marin sounds like sauce.

I also know a 10 year old Maren. Could not be a sweeter girl and the name is just lovely.

I know two young girls named Marin / Marin. Not sure how they spell their names. One is 10 and the other 6.

THis. It's either a boy's name in another language, or a county in CA. Trying WAY too hard to be different and cool for a girl. Cringeworthy.

Not everyone needs to be named Elizabeth, Ann, or Charlotte. Your characterization of this name as “cringe worthy” says more about you and your fear.

If you choose to give your kid a difficult name, then please train her to have patience with the inevitable mispronunciations. Few things are more off-putting than people with unique names who get snippy when strangers get their name wrong.

I like it! I know a Mairin (MARE-in). She is a great person.

I love it but agree with PPs that it should be spelled Maren. I’d pronounce Marin like the county.

I love Maren, it was my first choice but DH vetoed.
