My DS’s birthday was less than three weeks after DD was born, we had a party. We booked it at a venue would provide food and favors, so we pretty much just had to book it, send an evite, give them the headcount, and show up. DD stayed in a baby carrier on my chest he whole time to minimize germ exposure.

Of course have the party. Why wouldn’t you?

Choose the kiddy gym again or a similar place that takes care of everything except the cake. Prepare the draft evite or whatever you use, so that the only thing you need to do is press “send” about 3-4 weeks pre-party. Your dh and dd are perfectly capable to go order a cake. Lower your standards, don’t aim for perfection and muddle through but not having a party is not an option to entertain. Best way to make your dd dislike the baby.

My daughter was born one week before my son’s 4th birthday and I had a c-section. Of course we had a party! We had it on a Saturday and my husband took care of everything along with a couple of my GF’s. I was still recovering but came down for cake!

it’s not that hard at a venue unless you’re trying to Pinterest it. Have the nanny watch the baby during the party and enjoy some older kid time. It is absolutely necessary. I had a 3’month old somewhat colicky baby when we hosted my ds 2nd bday at our house with 15 toddlers. We had grandparents here to help with set up but I ordered catering and had house cleaners come deep clean and it was fine. Get any planning done now - amazon prime is your friend

Op you have a nanny and unless there is a problem expected with your birth I am not understanding your issue. Do you just not like parties and are looking for an excuse? You must know you can’t stop being a parent to your first child when your second pie arrives. Please, fill us in.

DH and I threw a 3rd birthday party in our home when DD2 was six weeks old. Of course you need to do this, don’t be ridiculous.

I am due Feb 24th and my oldest daughters birthday is early March. We are going to have a princess tea party and limit it to like 10 kids. That way I can avoid crazy germs like Chuck E. Cheese but still do a party. Definitely do a party! I am just going to wear the baby and feed DC at the party as needed.

Of course, my DD's 3rd birthday was 1 month after DD2 was born. It was fine. Small party at home with maybe 4-5 good friends. Nothing crazy.

My DD was born 2 weeks after DSs b-day and we still had a party (though I think it was a week early).
