Up past 11 = normal
Up all night = not normal and extremely unhealthy

How is up all night on a one time occasion, when the kid will be home and asleep by 10 am the following morning extremely unhealthy? I wouldn’t love this but it is what it is.

When my DD was 7, she had 7 kids over for a sleepover. Sleeping bags on the living room floor. At midnight, I moved into the room on the sofa until they fell asleep.

It’s one night. It’s just fun. There are way other things in life to care about. Don’t let your child go to another sleepover ever again.

YOLO OP . - time to unclench.

I am trying to understand why you’re saying “never again”. If the kid was cranky the next day, that could happen with a midnight bedtime. I get that YOU wouldn’t have done this but what do bad about another family doing this?

You sound really rigid. It's one night, what's the big deal? I also seriously doubt they were up all night but they are either saying it to sound cool or they just felt like it was all night. DS' two best friends recently spent the night and spent breakfast saying how they were "up all night" and "could you believe they didn't sleep at all?!". One kid was asleep by 11 and DS and the other were out by 1145. Quiet time and staying in the bedroom is enforced. Bed time is not. We host sleepovers fairly frequently and no one has made it up past 1.
