If so, how are you coping with it?

OP, this is me also.

Have voted Democrat in ALL the last presidential elections.

Agree that the Democrats have gone so far off the rails, and that I absolutely do not feel that they care about or want my vote.

I am actually going to be voting for Trump in the next election. I don’t like him as a person, but I can say that about many people I work with.

It is what it is.

Pick what issues matter most to you and vote based on those. Agree that you will not align completely with any candidate.

Such a predictable script.

Indeed. Anyone who would think that Trump would be a better pick for the country after what he has pulled is either brain-dead or completely amoral. Period. End of discussion.

You are entirely missing the point. You’re talking about Democrats who hate Trump, lol, but neither do they identify with the left. It’s called the “middle” and it’s where most of America belongs.

Other than Bernie and Warren, are the rest of the Dem candidates too far left? To me, I would rather have a democracy than a Trump Autocracy, so will do everything in my power to work against Trump in 2020. That said, whoever the next president is going to spend significant time and effort rebuilding our institutions, particularly State, Ag, Interior, EPA where this administration has been gutting the agencies. There really won't be a lot of bandwidth to implement any far-out agenda items, particularly with a GOP senate.

This is so true. The next President needs to be a person of conscience and decency AND someone who understands how our republic is supposed to work, first and foremost, because their time will be spent rebuilding all of the important institutions, checks and balances, and foreign relations that this idiot administration had torn down.

But then Democrats won’t win elections if they move to the GOP!

I used to say I was a fiscallly conservative democrat. People would say, how is that possible? You have to look at what presidents have actually accomplished and not listen to the noise.

When you look at what presidents have done with the economy, one side has been running up the freaking debt since I started voting and one side has been balancing the budget.

Democrats have been FISCALLY conservative. And Republicans have gotten worse and worse! Now we have trade wars that are bankrupting farmers(!)

My point is that you have to not listen to the noise and you have have to see what is going on without the blinders on.

I get you, OP. I grew up in a Democrat family, and I’ve always voted Democrat. However, I’ve moved right into the center as I’ve aged, and I believe I would be voting Republican now if the GOP was what it once was. Sanders/Warren and the other far-left progressives do not represent my views; however, I find Trump and the Republicans morally repugnant, so I will continue to vote Democrat for the time being.

So I know what party I’m voting for even if they don’t represent me 100% of the time.

I’m a PP and I also will continue to vote for Dems over GOP, but...not everyone will. And I will certainly speak out against the move to the left. We should remember that people vote with their pocketbooks.

What policies do you believe represent the Democrats' "move to the left?" I am just not seeing this. Instead, I see that the Republicans have moved very, very far to the right over the past several decades, and no one seems to complain. See their positions on the following:

Abortion- pro-choice Republican used to be a thing
Taxes- I don't even know what is going on here, Republicans used to care about the debt
Regulation- Republicans didn't used to have an across the board get rid of regs position
Environment and climate change- see above! Richard Nixon is the one who created the EPA, remember?
Immigration- I know many people who are now American citizens because of Ronald Reagan's amnesty!

Republican policies have become an incoherent mess, but Democrats are the ones moving to the left? Because there is a conversation about Medicare for all? What?

Yep.

I think some posters need to get out of their liberal bubble and see that there are people who think differently than they do.

I’m concerned. I am a lifelong Democrat, and called myself liberal for many years, and even I don’t identify with what’s happening with activist wing. And I say activist wing because I know many many many other Democrats don’t identify with it either. It’s a small segment. Democrats are middle class, blue collar, poor, upper middle class, and rich. It’s a big party, and we’re all united by a feeling the government should help people instead of corporations, among other things. But most Democrats also want criminals in jails, safe communities, excellent schools, low taxes, a strong booming economy.

This is common sense stuff. When Democrats candidates start talking about keeping communities safe, and improving economy, THEN they will be competitive again!

Lol, no. I don't believe you. There is literally no person like this. Try again.

Actually FEWER people support Trump now than ever. And certainly no democrat who voted for Hillary is going to vote for Trump now.

Nice try. HA HA HA HA HA HA

Well, you have now met one. DH is still on the fence, but is considering voting for Trump. Or possibly 3rd party. He also voted for Hillary last time and watching the debates realized that he can’t vote for many of the potential Democratic candidates.

Disregard this “HA HA” person. There are A LOT of people like the PP above. Most people are somewhere in the middle. I can’t believe you don’t know this? Very few people are on the far left or right, they just make the most “noise” and are the most “annoying”
