I completely agree. Or even if the various clubs would indicate where/when they hold their practices per age group.

Basically it is Division 3 but EDP has so many different names for leagues it gets confusing.

I've seen Divison 3 on the boys' side and EDP3 is probably a bit lower than NCSL Division 1. These are the Girls 2008 Division 1 teams so you can compare some of these names to the NCSL teams you have played to get a better idea

I just looked up the EDP website and noticed that Potomac 2008G (U12G) team will be playing in EDP South Atlantic Premier III this Spring.

I’m not familiar with EDP. Hence, does Premier III means Division 3? If it’s indeed Division 3, is it a more competitive league/division compared to NCSL Division 1?

Not sure what area you are looking to be but you might want to consider FCGB as well. They practice at Stone Ridge in Bethesda, Soccerplex, and sometimes Gaithersburg or Germantown.

That would be Jesse's U11 Blue team then. I've spoken with Jesse and he is really pleased with that team, he thinks they are a very competitive team. He would have told me if he thought otherwise. He values foot skills and defensive play over size/speed and long ball. He is a solid coach for sure. But keep in mind that Potomac plays in mostly local tournaments and if you are looking for national level events like Disney or Jefferson Cup, then you will need to look at Rush or Bethesda or MDU.


I have to disagree regarding Jesse's coaching. I can't disagree with Jesse building successful teams. But Jesse wasn't really a soccer player himself so teaching technical skills can't be his strong suit. When my DC played with him, he loved the long ball.

Jason is a great coach. He has been an ODP head coach for many years and has done a great job. He is always respectful to the girls but does yell and show passion during matches. He definitely knows the game and is big on field positioning/roles. Your DD will surely learn the value of pressure/cover/balance if she plays for him. Potomac typically keeps coaches with their teams each year.

DD is not a 2008 but has played for Jason.


Thank you. I plan on emailing him in March to ask to allow my DD to attend his practices before doing tryouts.

I think that going to practice is much better than any open tryout regardless of the team. It's very easy to get lost in the shuffle during open tryouts while at practice more time can be given to that player trying out.
