Virginia is not as "blue" as some people think or hope.

If 2019 taught us anything, it taught us that national politics are influencing state politics more strongly than in the past. That's favoring Dems today, but what happens in the future if a highly unpopular Dem President drags down his or her own party? There are enough Republicans and independent moderates in the Commonwealth to shift the balance of power back.

Yes, even in the bluest places—NJ, MD, MA—a GOP gov may win in extreme circumstances. Nothing about the new VA majority’s agenda is remotely extreme. There’s no turning back for nova. It’s bluer than blue for all time coming.

Not so sure about that. I think NOVA is so blue in part due to a reaction against the crazy right wing direction VA Rs have taken. If Ds start to go off their own deep end on extreme policies don’t be surprised to see a moderate R governor elected to put the breakdown.
