Central is pretty disgusting. They removed the toys a while back because the librarians were constantly getting sick from the sick kids people were bringing in.

Is it worth it? I’ve tried reading some library books but they were so boring I had to stop. And yes, they smelled really weird. Like old glue.

Books are beyond full of mold. You are probably allergic to it.

I take my kid to two different libraries about three to four times a week. Both have playrooms/play areas and storytimes. Neither of us have gotten sick Since we started going six months ago when he turned six months.

The other day at the playground, I ran into a neighbor there with her two kids; one had a fever earlier that day, and the other had a highly contagious rash. I was shocked, and then I realized that the playground is always filled with kids like this, I just don't always know about it.

You can either hide, or you can do your best to teach hygiene and accept that a little bit of illness and exposure isn't a bad thing (for most kids).

We never play with the toys. Ever. And I jet immediately after story time.

Not the PP you’re responding to but hopefully homeschoolers are going way more places than your mainstreamed kids - they have the freedom and flexibility to go all kinds of places - museums, parks - specialists sport and music lessons ... I homeschooled for a year when we were in transition and we went all over the place.

You two are not representing homeschoolers well. Nobody said homeschoolers don’t go out. She’s making the point that the kid could be getting sick at school. Read please. For the good of your children.

I’ve only ever seen homeless people at one of the libraries we frequent, the one that’s nearest to my home , never has any. I always see them using the computers, but since those have a time limit, I will see them go pick out a book to read. I’ve even seen some getting ready for work in the bathrooms despite the fact that they have no where to live. I’m glad they have somewhere to go.
