don't smoke weed, be drunk, or deal drugs on the library steps, or pass out on the sidewalk, and I won't call 911.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:See this is the main reason why I stay away from libraries and parks and such. I must have missed something.
How do you know what color the people OP was referring to are? I didn't see mention of race anywhere in this thread.
I'm an immigrant, so race can be confusing - how can you tell from OP's post that the person who passed out was not White?

Passed out in the middle of the street or the curb? If curb, it’s cool, he just needed to sober up. Most that overdose on something powerful aren’t dead. Just good crack
You sound awesome.

I wouldn't have called for the drug deal or passed out person. I might call for the OD because if they were really in trouble from opiods, narcan can reverse the OD and save a life (in some places, librarians are now being trained on how to administer opioid reversal drugs).

Shootings are happening all over the city at all hours. The drug deal at the library could go from fine to dangerous in a matter of seconds.
I’m with OP. I’d absolutely call if I witnessed that.
OP here. Yes, that is why I called, exactly. I don't want there to be an open-market drug corner right there, with the attendant violence.
I don't know - I always found the drug dealers to be so much more polite then the drunks. They were business folks - wanted to keep everyone happy so they could ply their wares in peace. Only drive by I have ever had to duck from was a bunch of teenagers having a beef over a girl.
I prefer no drug dealers to move onto that corner, obviously. Anonymous wrote:I live in Capitol Hill and I've had to call 911 3 times in the past week -- twice just tonight! First time - open drug dealing at the library. Second time - passed out on the street. Third time -- walk past a man who OD'd, and I think he's dead.
This shit is depressing!
