OP as usual you had to know the snark would be over the top. I'll make you feel better. You seem sensitive, sweet and your kids are young. "We've been boo'd" is actually a very diplomatic way of saying she doesn't want bags of candy on her porch. PPs are right. She doesn't want to announce her house is empty. It's not personal, so shake it off.

To make you smile...here's a timeline of how this goes. In my neighborhood, boo'ing was a rite of passage since kids were trekking down long, dark (scary) driveways. By middle school, kids did it with gross bag contents and funny, scary notes. At this point, we blew them away with air horns. Sadly, it attracted more tweens. By HS, 9th graders hopped the gate to boo and my very well placed husband in IT clown costume did the trick. Snap chat maps location made it easy to know when they were close.Think one kid sprained his ankle trying to get away over gate. We don't like him anyway, was great fun! Happy Halloween!

I don't get how you know they weren't boo'ed "legitimately." I also can't believe I just wrong that, because I literally have no idea what the hell that is. How is it that you've laid claim to always being the first? How is it that your neighbor is weird, exactly?

I agree that this is the absolute weirdest thing to not only notice and worry about, but actually post about.

OP, she put the sign up because she didn’t want to break the chain. If she gets boo’d while she is out of town, (1) the package could sit on her porch advertising that she is away. Or (2) Even if someone like you grabbed the package off her porch for her, she isn’t around to boo another neighbor. It sounds like she is just trying to be considerate. You are taking this way too personally.

Honestly, I think it's genius to put up a preemptive "We've been boo'd" sign. Who needs more candy/trinkets than they're going to get on Halloween?

If your kids need to do something Halloween-y, make pumpkin cookies with them. Watch a Halloween movie. Seriously, anything other than boo-ing.
