Making it easier to apply doesn't "dilute" acceptance requirements. There is still a screening and selection process.

But if you are referring specifically to the language requirement, the need is for students to reach level 5 by senior year so they can test for the diploma in a language. Schools could offer a compacted language sequence (levels 1-3 in two years) or summer school to get kids there, if they didn't already have a year of language.

Yes, but I believe it is a mistake. If anyone wants to find out for sure, contact the head of RM IB and inquire. She told me that it's not a requirement. I am going to double check with her myself so my child can apply to the IB programs.

DC got a personalized report listing the options for regionals schools and Math. Humanities, RM IB magnets.

I am wondering if any student recieved options that did NOT include magnet schools in their application.


I'd think that students who don't meet the following requirements would not have seen the magnets as an option:

-Currently or previously enrolled in Algebra 1 or higher

-Currently or previously enrolled in at least level I of a world language

we submitted last night, but did not receive acknowledgment of the submission. then click the link again, it came back an empty form again, what a crap !

It says you can only fill the form once. If the kid made a mistake like clicked the wrong box that sort, can she go back to fix before submitting?

The form is based on your current address. The form also mentions to call DCCAPS if you move after Nov 10th.

We are in the process of moving within MCPS but outside the current cluster. Does the online application allow you to choose ANY of the programs or is it limited to those you qualify for based on your address listed with MCPS? Trying to determine whether we will need to get a paper application from DCs counselor.

Same as one of the two short answer questions from last year. And I say short answer rather than essay be there was a word limit of something like 200 words.
