My husband and I transferred two embryos at Shady Grove, against our doctors will.
She had pre-written in the paperwork for one embryo transfer and we insisted on two.


We got pregnant with one child. I do think that implanting 2 could possibly be a waste if you’re conserving your embryos. In my case neither of the embroyos were tested.

I remember this exact same scenario for us. My final (and successful) IVF was nearly 3 years ago now. We had 4 failures and were down to our last 2 embryos from two different retrievals. Our finances and hearts couldn't take anymore failures so we said we wanted to transfer the final 2. One was PGS, one wasn't. After the failures though, I made sure to get my doctor to come up with something else besides, "'let's just try again and see what happens" so she came up with the ERA and other testing. After about 7 months of prep and testing, we did our final transfer in Nov. 2016, with the ERA coming back with me needing 1 more day of progesterone, and it resulted in twins! They are 2y and 3 months now, delivered at 36w+4days. It was a very uncomfortable pregnancy, but worth every day of it!

Whatever you decide, do it for the right reasons.

Running out of insurance coverage and just a gut feeling lead me to insist on doing a 3 day fresh transfer. My RE said 2-3 transferred. I went with 3. Have twins. While I’m very glad I didn’t have triplets ( I’d never transfer 3 or even 2 again ) I’m glad I did it.

I’d try 2. ...but not 3.

day 3 or 5 embryos? tested or not?

Day 3 fresh embryos untested but good quality on looks alone.

I spent over 100 days on bedrest in the hospital and had to have an emergency cerclage put in at 21 weeks since my cervix decided to open at 19 weeks. I got very very lucky to make it to 34 weeks before my water broke.
