After several failed IVF transfers, I would really like to transfer two embryos next time since we only have 3 left. My doctor at Shady Grove wasn't crazy about the idea (I'm over 35, higher risk, etc). However, we are MORE than fine having twins if that happens and feel like why not? Has anyone else had this experience? I know many people transfer several embryos at a time so did you have to convince your doctor?
I remember this exact same scenario for us. My final (and successful) IVF was nearly 3 years ago now. We had 4 failures and were down to our last 2 embryos from two different retrievals. Our finances and hearts couldn't take anymore failures so we said we wanted to transfer the final 2. One was PGS, one wasn't. After the failures though, I made sure to get my doctor to come up with something else besides, "'let's just try again and see what happens" so she came up with the ERA and other testing. After about 7 months of prep and testing, we did our final transfer in Nov. 2016, with the ERA coming back with me needing 1 more day of progesterone, and it resulted in twins! They are 2y and 3 months now, delivered at 36w+4days. It was a very uncomfortable pregnancy, but worth every day of it!
Whatever you decide, do it for the right reasons.
